Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) has announced the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN’s plan to upgrade both T1 Ejigbo Power transformer and T3 Alimosho Power transformer from 30MVA to 100MVA.

According to the power distribution company, the upgrade is part of her strategic effort to strengthen capacity. The project, slated to commence on Monday, 16th October 2017, will run for a period of five weeks during which time some customers of Ikeja Electric Plc will experience increased load shedding activity.

Details of the project plan indicate that TCN, in order to minimise the impact on communities, will effect the upgrade one after the other, upgrading T1 Ejigbo first before work on T3 commences.

Areas that may be affected during T1 Ejigbo upgrade include Oke-Afa II (NNPC, Bungalow, Ori-Oke, Ire-Akari, Ejigbo, Osolo, Ilamoshe and Low-cost), Shasha (Orisumbare, Oguntade, Foursquare and Airforce) and environs.

According to IKEDC, the T3 Alimosho upgrade by TCN aims to improve the 30MVA Power Transformer in the area to 100MVA.

Areas that will likely experience increased load shedding during this period include: Ipaja (Alimosho, Shasha, Orelope, Akowonjo, FHA, Oki and Okunola) and Adiyan (Unity, Kuwait, and Olorunadaba).
